Choose from four ingenious reproductions of hand-painted Magic Lantern “slipper” (transformation/moving) slides of the 1850’s, from the Kent MOMI collection.
The four images are: a typical bit of Victorian physical humour (as beloved by the Queen herself); an out-of-body (or is that "in-body"?) joke about the unsettling new technology of the photograph; the iconic moment of transformation in one of the best-loved fairy tales of the 19th century; and a visual summary of the "magic" of magic lantern projection in the mid-19th century.
Each 170w x 120h. Double-sided full-colour card on quality heavy paper. White envelope.
Digitally restored by Kent MOMI volunteer John MacLellan.
